Weg
- Start with the short train ride to Ehrwald, a 25 minute trip. There are hourly departures.
- The trail starts through town and heads up alongside the Zugspitzstrasse to Obermoos, reaching Obermoos in about 45 minutes. There are also buses to Obermoos, and you'll find a large parking lot with a 4-star hotel and the Zugspitze cable car.
- If the day is nice and you have time, the cable car to the top promises 360 degree views, with a restaurant and interactive museum. The trip takes just 10 minutes each way, plus whatever time you spend at the top.
- From the station, the trail takes you up through the woods, crossing the pass at 1600 meters and then descending back into Germany to Eibsee.
- Eibsee is a popular destination with restaurants, hotels and another cable car up to the Zugspitze summit from the Germany side. There is both a train station and bus stop here for your journey back to Garmisch.
